Answer
Andreas Pittakis (1797-1861) was a Greek archaeologist, historian, numismatist and philologist. He was born in Chios, but spent most of his life in Greece. Pittakis is considered the last representative of the "heroic period" of Greek archaeology, which was characterized by the discovery and excavation of ancient Greek ruins. He was also a pioneer in the field of numismatics, and published several books on the subject.
