Ladislaus died unexpectedly in Prague on the night of 10–11 March 1457. His death was sudden and unexpected, as he had been in good health and there had been no previous indication that he was ill. The cause of death was not recorded, but it was widely rumoured that he had been poisoned by a rival claimant to the throne.
