Perceptions of arrogance were one of the reasons why Lawrence Gonzi's popularity decreased during his second term as prime minister. Gonzi's critics accused him of being aloof and out of touch with the needs of ordinary people. They also accused him of being too authoritarian and of not listening to criticism.
