Lee J. Cobb (July 8, 1911 – February 11, 1976) was an American actor of stage, film, and television. His distinctive deep, gravelly voice made him a popular supporting actor, but he also starred in a number of films, most notably On the Waterfront (1954), for which he received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
