Leon Perera was a member of the Workers' Party, a communist party in Sri Lanka. He was a member of parliament from 1936 to 1952 and served as the leader of the opposition from 1947 to 1952. Perera was a strong advocate for social justice and economic equality. He was also a vocal critic of colonialism and imperialism.
