Leonid Gaidai was born on 30 January 1923 in Khorol, Ukrainian SSR. He was a Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, and actor. He is best known for his comedy films, such as "The Diamond Arm" (1968), "Ivan Vasilievich: Back to the Future" (1973), and "The Irony of Fate" (1975).
