Levon Ter-Petrosyan was born on January 9, 1945 in Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian SSR. He was the first President of Armenia from 1991 to 1998. He was also the leader of the Armenian National Movement, which played a leading role in the Armenian independence movement and the Karabakh War.
