Answer
Jean-Pierre Raffarin succeeded Lionel Jospin as Prime Minister of France in 2002. Raffarin served as Prime Minister for five years, during which time he implemented a number of reforms, including the introduction of the 35-hour work week and the creation of the controversial "First Employment Contract" (CPE). Raffarin's premiership was marked by both economic growth and social unrest, including the 2005 riots in the Paris suburbs.
