Lisa Murkowski served as the vice chair of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee since 2021. She was appointed to this position by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in January 2021. Murkowski has been a member of the Senate since 2002 and has represented Alaska since 1998. She is a member of the Republican Party and is the only Republican woman to serve in the Senate.
