Louis Aragon was a French poet, novelist and journalist who was a long-time member of the Communist Party. He joined the party in 1927 and remained a member until his death in 1982. Aragon was a committed communist and his poetry and novels often reflected his political beliefs. He was also a prominent figure in the French Resistance during World War II.
