Louis Aragon was born in Paris, France on October 3, 1897. He was a French poet, novelist, and essayist who was a member of the Surrealist movement in the early 20th century. Aragon was also a member of the Communist Party of France and was a staunch supporter of the Soviet Union. He died in Paris on December 24, 1982.
