Louis I was the King of Hungary, Croatia, and Bohemia from 1342 until his death in 1382. He was the son of Charles I of Hungary and Elizabeth of Poland. Louis I was a strong and capable ruler who expanded his kingdom and increased its power. He also promoted trade and the arts. Louis I was a devout Catholic and supported the Pope. He died of plague in 1382.
