Louis Le Prince was a French inventor and artist. He was born in Metz, France, in 1841. He studied art at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and then moved to England, where he worked as an artist and photographer. In 1888, he invented an early motion-picture camera, which he called the "Chronophotographe". He filmed a number of short films, including one of the first moving pictures of a train.
