In 1643, Louis, the Dauphin of France, fled to the province of Burgundy after his father, King Louis XIII, sent an army after him. Louis had been accused of plotting to overthrow his father and replace him on the throne. He was able to escape to Burgundy with the help of his mother, Queen Anne of Austria.
