Roberto Mancini's contract as Italy national football team manager expired after the end of UEFA Euro 2020. The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced that they had appointed Luciano Spalletti as the new head coach on 27 August 2023. Spalletti had previously managed the team between 2009 and 2010, and had also managed Inter Milan and Roma.
