Ludwig Erhard served as the Chancellor of West Germany from 1963 to 1966. He was a conservative politician who had previously served as Minister of Economics and Vice Chancellor. Erhard was a strong supporter of free market economics and his policies helped to create a period of economic growth in West Germany known as the "Wirtschaftswunder" or "economic miracle".
