Kurt Georg Kiesinger was the successor to Ludwig Erhard as Chancellor of West Germany. He served as Chancellor from 1966 to 1969. He was a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and was the first Chancellor from the CDU to serve under a Grand Coalition with the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Kiesinger's government oversaw a period of economic growth and prosperity in West Germany.
