Answer
Huber was friends with the world traveler Georg Forster, who was the naturalist on Cook's third voyage. They met in 1777 when Forster returned to Europe after the voyage. Forster had published his own account of the voyage, and Huber was impressed by his work. The two men became friends, and they corresponded regularly for many years.
