After serving British India, M. Visvesvaraya worked in the Kingdom of Mysore. He was appointed as Dewan of Mysore in 1912 and served in this position for 25 years. During his time as Dewan, he oversaw the construction of several important public works projects, including the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam and the Mysore Palace.
