Yes, Magno Alves began his career as a striker. He was born in 1975 and began playing football at a young age. He made his professional debut in 1993 with the Brazilian club Bahia. He then went on to play for a number of other clubs in Brazil, including São Paulo and Santos. He also had a short spell in Europe with the Spanish club Real Zaragoza.
