Vote of no-confidence brought down Maia Sandu's government in 2019, shortly after it took office. The no-confidence motion, initiated by the pro-Russian Socialist Party, was supported by the Democratic Party and the Shor Party, both of which had previously backed the former Democratic-Socialist coalition government. Sandu's government was unable to secure a majority in parliament and was forced to resign.
