Sheikh Haron, also known as Monis, was one of his many aliases. He was a self-proclaimed Muslim cleric who gained notoriety for taking hostages at the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Sydney, Australia, in 2014. During the 16-hour siege, Monis demanded a number of items, including an Islamic State flag, and made several bizarre requests, including speaking with the Prime Minister and broadcasting his demands on national television.
