Marc Wilmots was elected to the Senate of Belgium in 2014 and served for four years. He was a member of the Socialist Party and served on the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Social Affairs. Wilmots also served as the Senate's representative to the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of the European Union. He resigned from the Senate in 2018 to focus on his coaching career.
