Marcus Stephen resigned from the presidency of Nauru in November 2011, after the Supreme Court ruled that his election was unconstitutional. Stephen had been elected president in July 2007, but the court found that he had not been a resident of Nauru for the required 10 years. Stephen was replaced by Sprent Dabwido, who was elected in a new presidential election.
