Margaret of Anjou's second reign ended in 1471 when she was defeated at the Battle of Tewkesbury during the Wars of the Roses. Henry VI, her husband, had been deposed by Edward IV and then reinstated momentarily in 1470. However, Edward IV retook the throne the following year, capturing Margaret and Henry VI and effectively ending the Lancastrian line of succession.
