Margaret of Anjou was born in the Duchy of Lorraine, a region in present-day northeastern France. She was the daughter of René, Duke of Anjou and Isabella, Duchess of Lorraine. The young princess received an excellent education and was known for her intelligence and charm. She later became the wife of King Henry VI of England, and their union played a significant role in the Wars of the Roses.
