King Michael I was the last monarch of Romania, and he reigned from 1927 to 1930, and again from 1940 to 1947. He was forced to abdicate in 1947, and he lived in exile for the rest of his life. His daughter, Margareta, inherited the duties of head of state of Romania in March 2016, after the death of her father.
