Prince Henrik, Margrethe II's husband, originated from France. Born in Talence, Gironde, he was the son of Count André de Laborde de Monpezat. After meeting Margrethe at a London dinner party in 1966, they married in 1967. Upon their marriage, he relinquished his French titles and became Prince Henrik of Denmark.
