Maria I of Portugal was the daughter of Infanta Doña Mariana Victoria of Spain and King João V of Portugal. She was born in 1734 and became Queen of Portugal in 1750. She was a very devout Catholic and was known for her piety and devotion. She was also a very strong-willed and determined woman who was not afraid to stand up for what she believed in.
