Charles II, the response I provided earlier, was Maria Theresa's younger half-brother. The two shared the same father, Emperor Leopold I of the Habsburg dynasty, but had different mothers. After Maria Theresa, as the eldest daughter, succeeded to several realms upon their father's passing in 1740, Charles II later inherited the Imperial crown of the Holy Roman Empire in 1742.
