Italian, Marie de' Medici was a prominent and influential figure in French history. She was born in Florence, Italy, in 1575, and was the daughter of Francesco I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. She married King Henry IV of France in 1600 and became queen consort of France. Marie de' Medici played significant role in French politics, acting as regent during the minority of her son, Louis XIII.
