Mark Knopfler, a British musician, songwriter, singer and record producer, graduated from the University of Leeds in 1971. He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Dire Straits, which he co-founded with his brother David Knopfler. Knopfler has also released several solo albums, and has composed film scores and music for television.
