John Messier was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007, his first year of eligibility. He was a forward who played for the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, and Los Angeles Kings. He was known for his hard hitting style of play and was nicknamed "The Hammer". He was a member of the Canadiens' Stanley Cup championship teams in 1965, 1966, and 1967.
