Answer
Marsilio Ficino was a Florentine philosopher who founded the Florentine Academy in 1459. The Academy was an attempt to revive Plato's Academy, which had been closed by the Roman emperor Justinian in 529 AD. Ficino and his fellow Platonists believed that Plato's philosophy was the key to understanding the world and that it could help to bring about a new age of peace and prosperity.
