Marsilio Ficino was a 15th century Italian philosopher, translator, and astrologer. He was a leading figure of the Florentine Renaissance and a proponent of Neoplatonism, the revival of the philosophy of Plato. Ficino attempted to revive Plato's Academy, a school of philosophy founded by Plato in Athens in the 4th century BC. Ficino's Academy was based in Florence and attracted many prominent scholars and philosophers of the Renaissance.
