Where was Bucer exiled to in 1549?

  • England

  • France

  • Italy

  • Switzerland

Answer

In 1549, Martin Bucer was exiled to England by King Henry VIII because he was a Lutheran theologian who was critical of the King's break with the Catholic Church. Bucer was initially welcomed to England by Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury, but he soon fell out of favor with the King and was forced to leave the country. Bucer eventually settled in Strasbourg, where he died in 1551.
