Before his presidency, Martín Vizcarra served as Governor of Moquegua, a region located in southern Peru. Vizcarra served as Governor from 2011 to 2014, and was a member of the Peruvian Nationalist Party. During his time as Governor, Vizcarra oversaw a number of development projects, including the construction of a new hospital and the expansion of the city's airport.
