4 January 2021 marked the passing of Martinus J.G. Veltman, a Nobel Prize-winning Dutch theoretical physicist. Veltman's contributions to particle physics, particularly his development of the't Hooft-Veltman scheme for renormalizing gauge theories, earned him the 1999 Nobel Prize in Physics, shared with his colleague Gerard't Hooft.
