Answer
Zinjanthropus, a new genus, was named by Mary Leakey in 1959. This genus was based on the discovery of a skull and other fossil remains found at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania. The remains were initially classified as a new species of Australopithecus, but Leakey later proposed that they represented a new genus.
