Matthew Bunker Ridgway was a four-star general in the United States Army who served as Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, from 1952 to 1953, and as the eighth Chief of Staff of the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a decorated veteran of World War I and World War II, and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of the Bulge.
