Answer
The answer is from his father's side. Bolzano's father, Francesco Bolzano, was an Italian merchant from Prague. He married Maria Victoria Maixner, a German woman, in 1784. Bernhard Bolzano was their fifth child and only son. Bolzano's Italian heritage influenced his cultural and intellectual development, as he was raised in a bilingual household and exposed to Italian language and culture from an early age.
