Empress Matilda was the daughter of Matilda, Queen of England, and Henry I of England. She was the only legitimate child of Henry I and was his heir presumptive. Matilda was married to Emperor Henry V of the Holy Roman Empire, but the marriage was annulled in 1125. She later married Geoffrey V, Count of Anjou, and had three children, including Henry II of England.
