Matt Stone grew up in the town of Littleton, Colorado. As a child, he was interested in film and music. He began writing and performing comedy sketches with his friend Trey Parker in the sixth grade. They attended the same high school, and continued to work together on comedy projects. In 1992, they created the short film "The Spirit of Christmas".
