Queen Alexandra, née Princess Dagmar of Denmark, was the wife of King Edward VII and the mother of King George V. She was born in 1844 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and was the second daughter of King Christian IX and Princess Louise of Hesse-Cassel. She married Edward, Prince of Wales, in 1863, and they had six children together. Alexandra was a popular queen and was known for her charitable work.
