Mauno Koivisto, the former President of Finland, did not have a profession other than politics. He worked as a bank clerk and as a journalist before entering politics. He was a member of the Social Democratic Party and served as the Prime Minister of Finland from 1968 to 1970 and again from 1979 to 1982. He was elected President of Finland in 1982 and served until 1994.
