Blaise Compaoré was the president of Burkina Faso from 1987 to 2014. He rehabilitated Maurice Yaméogo, who was the first president of the country. Yaméogo was deposed in a military coup in 1966 and died in exile in 1984. Compaoré allowed Yaméogo's body to be returned to Burkina Faso and buried in a state funeral.
