Max Theiler received his diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1922. He went on to become a leading researcher in the field of virology, and is best known for his work on yellow fever. In 1951, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of the yellow fever virus.
