Two trials were held against Byron De La Beckwith in the 1960s. The first one in 1964 ended in a hung jury, while the second one in 1967 resulted in a conviction for De La Beckwith. De La Beckwith was sentenced to life in prison, but he was released in 1989 after serving 22 years. He died in 2013 at the age of 84.
