Haydée Mercedes Sosa, known as Mercedes Sosa, was an Argentine singer. Sosa's career spanned four decades and she became one of the most successful singers in Latin America. She was also a prominent political activist and was known for her outspoken support for human rights and social justice. Sosa died of leukemia in 2009 at the age of 74.
