Avenatti was convicted of several crimes in April 2019. He was found guilty of embezzling money from Stormy Daniels, his former client, and also of trying to extort Nike. Avenatti was sentenced to four years in prison for the embezzlement conviction and 2½ years in prison for the extortion conviction. He is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville, in Otisville, New York.
